Dr. Dan Goodley obtained his Ph.D from the Department of
Sociological Studies, University of Sheffield in 1998. Since then he has been a
lecturer at the University of Leeds, Bolton Institute and Open University. His
current appointments include Reader of Disability Studies in the University of
Sheffield; Director of the Centre of Applied Disability Studies; and Director of
the Inclusive Education and Equality Research Cluster. He is also a visiting
professor with the University of Iceland.
Being an ardent supporter of the Self-Advocacy movement for
the past 15 years, his extensive research in the field of Disability Studies
makes him a dynamic contributor. His impressive list of published work on
Self-Advocacy includes authored and edited books, articles in refereed
international journals and book chapters. His research has always endeavoured to
express openness to reflexity and critique to uses of power, voice and
authenticity.
